Pizza in Beijing 🍕The Ultimate List of Beijing’s Top 13 Pizzas (in 2022)
Pizza in Beijing // Our List of Beijing’s Best 13 Pizzas
Where has the best pizza (披萨 pīsà) in Beijing?
That is truly a hot contested topic with a number of factors:
- Do you prefer traditional Italian style pizza or American?
- Thick crust or thin crust?
- Is adding pineapple a criminal act or a genius addition?
Yes, this is bound to cause arguments among many friends in Beijing.
However, here at LTL we’re never afraid to deal with the big controversial topics such as where has the best burger in Beijing or the best brunch.
So without further ado here is LTL’s list of the best pizza in Beijing!
Pizza in Beijing – #1 La Pizza
Pizza in Beijing – #2 Bottega
Pizza in Beijing – #3 Pie Squared
Pizza in Beijing – #4 Jing A
Pizza in Beijing – #5 Gung Ho!
Pizza in Beijing – #6 Pizza Saporita
Pizza in Beijing – #7 Great Leap
Pizza in Beijing – #8 The Local
Pizza in Beijing – #9 Q Mex
Pizza in Beijing – #10 Tube Station
Pizza in Beijing – #11 Annie’s
Pizza in Beijing – #12 The Kro’s Nest
Pizza in Beijing – #13 The Pizza Show
Pizza in Beijing – #1 La Pizza 🥇
Number one on our list has to be this Naples style pizzeria. A Beijing staple for almost 10 years, there are now three branches of La Pizza in Beijing.
If you’re looking for a traditional Neapolitan-style pizza in Beijing it’s hard to get any better than La Pizza in Beijing (though Bottega lovers may disagree).
Go there any night and you’re bound to find yourself surrounded by Italian clientele which is definitely a clear sign of La Pizza’s authenticity.
Want to know just how authentic the pizza here is?
Well everything comes from Naples and no we’re not just talking about the ingredients, even the oven, the owner and the head chef as well!
We’d recommend their Devil Pizza which comes topped with mozzarella, salami and chili peppers to add just a little kick. If it all looks too good and you can’t decide they also have the 4 seasons which has a different topping on each quarter.
One of our favourite things about La Pizza is their sauce, it is completely packed with flavour and their pizzas are always generously topped with it.
At their Shangdu Soho location they have two different size options: either 33cm or 50cm. The 50cm pizzas are pretty big and filling so are best shared between a few people!
LTL Rating 10/10
Address: 1112, Shangdu Soho, 8 Dongdaqiao Lu, Chaoyang District (our personal favourite location because it has some lovely outside seating).
Pizza in Beijing – #2 Bottega 🥈
Second up on our list is Bottega which actually won the Beijinger 2020 Pizza Cup, this was a second win for the Italian restaurant as they also took the crown back in 2016.
Like La Pizza, Bottega offers up authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas with some really unique toppings. The owners are two brothers from Naples, Italy so it comes as no surprise that the pizza here is the real deal!
They have two locations in Beijing, one is in the beautiful Nali Patio where you’ll feel more like you’re in Europe than down the road from Sanlitun’s busy Taikoo Li Shopping Centre.
The other is at Xinyuanli, where there is a great terrace area which is perfect for summer.
We’d recommend trying their signature pizza called the Bottega which has a whole ball of burrata cheese in the middle, surrounded by anchovies, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella.
LTL Rating 9.5/10
Address: 2/F, Nali Patio, 81 Sanlitun Lu, Chaoyang District (they also have a second location in Xinyuanli)
⭐Bonus Mention – Forno⭐
In 2020 the owners of Bottega also opened up another Italian restaurant called Forno which serves Roman style Italian food.
Their speciality is pizza in teglia which is a crispy thin crust pizza cut into squares, it’s typically found on the streets of Rome.
Like Bottega they have two locations in Beijing and although relatively new on the Beijing pizza scene, they’ve already become a huge success coming second in the pizza cup in 2021.
Pizza in Beijing – #3 Pie Squared 🥉
As you might guess from the name Pie Squared offer pizzas in the less traditional shape of a square.
Winners of The Beijinger Pizza Cup in 2021 and 2017 their Detroit style pizzas are a firm favourite in Beijing.
For those non-Americans among us square pizzas can be traced back to the 1940s in Detroit and Pie Squared have brought this tradition to Beijing.
These deep dish pizzas are a world away from a classic Italian pizza, with the toppings being spread all the way out to the edge so that there is only a very small section of crust.
Many Americans in Beijing will proclaim Pie Squared as having the best “American style” pizza in Beijing and is often hailed as being like a taste of home.
First timers should definitely try out the Motown Meatball which is topped with homemade meatballs and red onions. If you’re feeling experimental there is also the option to create your own pizza.
If a square pizza sounds just a little too odd for you, don’t worry you can also get a traditional round pizza too!

Summer in Beijing 🌞 – 5 Top Recommendations (for 2022)
Summer in Beijing – 5 Top Recommendations Anyone who is familiar with summer in Beijing knows that with average temperatures of 30-35 degrees Celsius, it can be a bit of a struggle. Some days it may even get up to…
Pizza in Beijing – #4 Jing A
Next up on our list we have another American style pizza joint which is Jing A. Their Longfusi branch, nestled in the hutongs, specialises in sourdough pizza cooked in their large brick oven.
Now what makes Jing A special is that they put a unique Chinese twist on your usual traditional pizza toppings.
For instance their Yunnan Mushroom Pizza or Beijing Meatlovers Pizza which comes topped with Guizhou sausage, Sichuan sausage and Mala sausage.
However, our personal favourite pizza is the Happy as a Clam which, as you might guess from the name, comes topped with steamed clams, white sauce, garlic, bacon, parmesan and mozzarella.
For beer lovers you can also wash down their pizza with one of their 20+ beers on tap!
It’s important to note that their Longfusi Taproom is the only one that serves pizza so make sure you get the right location if you’re getting a Didi there!
LTL Rating 9/10
Address: 38 Qianliang Hutong, Building. 19 Dongcheng District
Pizza in Beijing – #5 Gung Ho!
When you think of healthy food you don’t generally think of pizza, however that is exactly what Gung Ho! offers.
Started by two kiwis with the aim of being the “most wholesome pizza in town while giving a damn about people and the planet!”
Here you can get a pizza feeling relatively guilt free.
So what makes their pizza more healthy?
Well first of all they offer three alternative thin crust bases which are whole wheat, gluten-free and low carb paleo.
Secondly they use good quality, local ingredients where possible or high quality imports when not such as the New Zealand lamb on their aptly named Lord of the Lambs Pizza.
This is also a great spot for any vegans of vegetarians as they have a number of vegetarian pizzas on offer, that can also have the option of being made vegan.
They even have a Vegan Pepperoni pizza which really isn’t something you see often!
They offer two sizes of pizza: either a small 7 inch pizza that is perfect for individuals or an 11 inch pizza which is great for sharing, though you may also want to order some snacks as well.
For us a must try is their BBQ Chicken Pizza but if you’re feeling brave they have some more unusual toppings such as their A’Roma Therapy Pizza which is topped with durian.
Definitely not a pizza for everyone and I’m sure that sentence will cause heartache to many Italians out there.
If you’re a fan of using Meituan Waimai be sure to check if Gung Ho has any offers on, often their classic large peperoni pizza has a hefty discount!
LTL Rating 8.5/10
Address: Building 3, China View, Gongti Donglu, Chaoyang District
Pizza in Beijing – #6 Pizza Saporita
Moving out of our top 5 we have another classic Italian style pizzeria. Pizza Saporita serves up traditional “pan pizza”, which for those who don’t know, can be though of as the Italian version of a “deep dish” style pizza.
What is unique about Pizza Saporita is that all of the ingredients used are imported from Italy.
It is the brain child of the owner of an Italian food products importing company and a World Champion pan pizza maker so when you go here you really are getting an authentic taste of Italy.
They have an extensive menu of different pizzas which includes a great selection of vegetarian pizzas with some more unusual toppings such as the Try It Pizza which is topped with spinach, pumpkin, sweet potato, walnuts and mozzarella.
For meat eaters we’d definitely recommend one of their pizzas topped with parma ham or salami because it really is top quality Italian charcuterie!
LTL Rating 8/10
Address: 112/115 Bojinghaoting, 8 Shizipo Jie, Dongcheng District (they have another location near Chaoyang Park)
798 Art District Beijing 🎨 – (Updated Guide for 2022)

Pizza in Beijing – #7 Great Leap #45
Coming in at number 7 we have the second brewpub on our list. Great Leap #45 offers up great New York style pizzas that will be a sure hit with any Americans out there looking for a taste of home.
Here the pizzas are a whopping 16 inches so you’ll definitely want to share!
Or alternatively they also sell two different types of pizza each day by the slice if you’re looking for something smaller.
You really can’t go wrong with their The Pepperoni which, as you’ll see from the picture below, comes completely jam packed with pepperoni slices, there is definitely no skimping here!
The Brooklyn Supreme is also a great shout, with homemade sausage, pepperoni, shallots, olives, peppers and chilli flakes for just a hint of spice.
And what better to go with your pizza than one of Great Leap’s 20 beers on tap.
They have a large inside space here with long tables, however this place does get very busy in the evenings so if there is a group of you going it’s best to book a table ahead.
LTL Rating 8/10
Address: 45-1 Xinyuan Jie, Chaoyang District
Pizza in Beijing – #8 The Local
Next up on our list we have one of Beijing’s most popular sports bars: The Local. Here they specialise in American style pub food and offer up a great range of tasty pizzas.
Their pizzas come in two sizes either your usual 12 inch pizza or a huge 20 inch pizza that is great for sharing with friends.
Some of our favourites here are the Steak Pesto Rocket Pizza or the Pesto Pine Nuts Pizza for vegetarians.
Their homemade pesto really packs a punch and is guaranteed to leave you wanting more!
They also have the option for you to “DIY” your own pizza which is a great option for anyone who is a fussy eater or likes to be creative with their toppings.
Every Monday from 4pm till 9pm all their pizzas are half price so this is the perfect day to go and try one!
LTL Rating 7.5/10
Address: Courtyard 4, Gongti Beilu, Chaoyang District
Pizza in Beijing – #9 Q Mex
If you’re a fan of Mexican fusion food then Q Mex is definitely the place for you. When you think Mexican restaurant you probably wouldn’t think of pizza, but Beijingers are big fans of Q Mex’s pizzas and they actually came third in the 2020 Beijinger Pizza Cup.
At Q Mex they have a truly enormous menu so their pizza section is relatively small compared so some of the other venues on our list. However, the pizzas they do have on offer are truly unique and especially enjoyable for those who like a bit of spice.
We’d recommend their Nacho Pizza that is topped with their signature homemade beef chorizo, tomato sauce, salsa, mozzarella, sour cream, guacamole and tortilla chips.
Yes, as the name suggests it’s basically nachos on a pizza and it’s super tasty.
Other Mexican inspired pizzas include the Spicy Chorizo Pizza and the Chicken and Chorizo Jambalaya.
Another great thing about Q Mex is that they do half price pizzas on Tuesdays!
LTL Rating 7.5/10
Address: Courtyard 4, Gongti Beilu, Chaoyang District
Pizza in Beijing – #10 Tube Station
Tube Station are known for their massive pizzas with their large size being a huge 24 inches.
These big American style pizzas are a perfect hangover cure if you’ve been going a bit too hard at one of Beijing’s many bars.
This is also the first pizza chain on our list that also has venues outside of Beijing, with venues also in Tianjin, Shanghai and Xi’an.
Our must try recommendation is the Garbage Pail Pizza or 垃圾桶 (lā jī tǒng) in Chinese which, as you might guess from the name pretty much comes with EVERYTHING on top.
Are you ready for it?!
Here is the list of toppings: pepperoni, salami, beef, ground pork, bacon, onion, ham, green peppers, yellow peppers, red peppers, mushrooms, olives, spinach, pineapple (sorry Italians), feta and mozzarella.
That truly is one hell of a pizza!

Pizza in Beijing – #11 Annie’s
Just narrowly missing out on the top 10 we have Annie’s.
Annie’s is a Beijing staple having been in Beijing for around twenty years. They’ve grown massively over that time and now have multiple locations all across Beijing.
This family friendly restaurant is pretty reasonably priced and they have a varied menu of pizzas, pasta and other main courses.
When it comes to the pizzas on offer Annie’s tends to stick to the more traditional options such as Four Cheese or their Prosciutto and Mushroom.
However, for the prices we can forgive them for being a little less adventurous.
If you dine in you’ll be served with some complimentary bread and dips as an appetizer, but don’t fall into the trap of filling up on this!
Their calzone or 大饺子 dà jiǎozi (big dumpling) as some of the LTL staff like to call it, is a must try, and for only 10 RMB more you can upgrade to a large!
Address: Multiple locations all across Beijing
LTL Rating 7/10
Pizza in Beijing – #12 The Kro’s Nest
Although 11th on our list The Kro’s Nest is definitely number one for the biggest pizzas in Beijing with their large size pizzas coming in at a whopping 28 inches! Yes, if you thought Tube Station pizzas were going to be the biggest in Beijing then think again!
Now, it has to be said that Kro’s Nest and Tube Station offer up very similar style big American pizzas, they even also have a pizza named the Garbage Pail 垃圾桶 (lā jī tǒng) although the toppings are different with Kro’s Nest’s also coming with shrimp, whitebait and duck to mix things up a little more.
Kro’s Nest also have some more unusual offerings such as their Potato Bacon Pizza (who doesn’t love carbs on carbs) and the always controversial Durian Pizza.
They also do some Flat Bread Pizzas in a square shape that are great for people who are not a big fan of pizza crusts!
LTL Rating 6.5/10
Address: Multiple locations all across Beijing
Pizza in Beijing – #13 The Pizza Show
Last on our list we have The Pizza Show. This is one of the newest kids on the block when it comes to pizza in Beijing only opening in August 2020.
They specialise in getting your pizzas to you fast and you’re able to watch them being made in the open plan kitchen, hence the name The Pizza Show.
This restaurant was opened by the same team behind Mexican restaurant Avocado Tree and it’s fair to say that they’re still finding their feet in the rather crowded world of pizza restaurants in Beijing.
Offered up here are some quite unique flavour combinations and toppings such as their Carbonara Pizza or Chicken Pesto which comes with deep fried lotus root (as far as we know the only restaurant in Beijing to be putting lotus root on pizza.)
However, despite these bold flavours sometimes the pizzas can be a little on the bland side. But, we have hope that over time they’ll continue improving and soon become a big contender in Beijing’s pizza scene.
