In these classes only oral Chinese is taught – no Chinese reading or writing skills.

You’ll achieve much faster progress with your spoken Mandarin, by using the time that otherwise would be spent learning characters on speaking and listening during class.

This program will help you perfect your pronunciation and tones, and allow you to learn and practice conversational sentence patterns and grammar in spoken Chinese.

Being able to speak Mandarin will make it life in China much easier. It is however possible to add extra classes at a later point if you decide you want to study Chinese characters – although they are not taught directly, Chinese characters are still displayed throughout this course to build familiarity.

Learn how to Speak Chinese – Group Classes

There are two options for the Spoken Only Group classes:

With the Standard Spoken Only Chinese Program you have a total of 12 hours of small group class per week. Classes take place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at our central Beijing school for four hours per day. You’ll usually start classes at 10am, have a lunch break from 12pm to 1pm and finish by 3pm.

The Intensive Spoken Only Chinese Program includes an additional eight hours of 1-on-1 classes per week. The classes are taught on Tuesday and Thursdays, four hours per day. With a total of 20 hours of Chinese language instruction focusing only on speaking Chinese, your spoken Mandarin will improve very quickly.

Both the Standard and Intensive Spoken Chinese Only programs are offered at levels: A0, A1, A2, B1 and B2.

Learn how to speak Chinese – Individual Classes

If you want to study during the evenings and weekends, or simply need more flexibility with your study times, the Individual Spoken Only Chinese Program is the right choice for you. Classes can be taken at any time from 8am to 9pm, any days of the week, at any location in Beijing. Lessons are taught at our Beijing CBD campus, near Dawanglu 大望路 subway station.

How many students are in an LTL group class?

To make sure everyone has enough time to speak, all group classes at LTL are very small.

We currently have an average of three (2.85 to be exact) and a guaranteed maximum of six students per class.

How do I sign up for a Spoken Only Chinese Course?

You will definitely get a reply today, most likely within a few minutes. Please note though that on weekends, at night and during holidays we might be a bit slower with replying than usual.

How can I pay for my Chinese course?

You can pay LTL Beijing via WeChat, Alipay, cash or bank transfer.

How long does it take to be able to speak Chinese?

As a rough guide it will take a complete beginner about 30 hours to learn the basic language required to live in China, 60 hours for basic conversations and about 200 hours for daily life conversations.

How can I learn Chinese characters later?

Once you get to a higher level it’s a good idea to also learn how the Chinese writing system works. We offer specialised 1-on-1 courses at our school to help students get their reading and writing up to speed with their spoken Chinese.

Please talk to your Student Advisor if you want to get started on Chinese characters too.

Which study materials do you use?

For the Spoken Only Chinese program we use the “Rapid Spoken Chinese” (口语速成汉语) series. All text books are already included in the course fees.
